At Tadmoor we are committed to protecting and enhancing the natural environment, with a long-term approach to rewilding, biodiversity and sustainable land management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2020 we set aside a large meadow to allow natural rewilding processes to develop, creating richer habitats and encouraging native wildflowers, insects, birds and other wildlife. Beehives have also been introduced to support pollination and contribute to a healthy and diverse ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Approximately 10 acres of woodland has been dedicated to rewilding<\/strong>, using Tamworth pigs as a natural land-management tool to disturb the ground, recycle nutrients and create varied woodland habitats, while allowing natural regeneration to take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are also restoring historic drainage ditches across the area. These traditional watercourses are an important part of the landscape, helping to manage water naturally, support wetland habitats and provide a home for a wider range of plants, insects, amphibians and other wildlife. Repairing and recommissioning them allows us to work with the natural hydrology of the land rather than relying solely on modern drainage solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Water conservation is another important part of our approach. We are harvesting rainwater from the roofs of the main house and outbuildings, storing it underground and using it for automated irrigation during drier periods. This reduces our reliance on our borehole while making better use of a naturally available resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Native species are at the heart of our planting programme, with an oak tree nursery<\/strong> helping us grow and establish trees that are naturally suited to the local environment. Over time, these plantings will provide additional habitat, biodiversity and carbon storage while helping to strengthen the character of the landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At Tadmoor we have also invested in sustainable infrastructure, including the installation of a BioDisc\/Klargester sewage treatment system<\/strong>, helping to manage wastewater responsibly and reduce environmental impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To further reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, we have invested in Derril Water Solar Park<\/strong>, helping to provide clean, renewable energy for Tadmoor and supporting our commitment to a lower-carbon footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We also monitor air quality at Tadmoor<\/strong>, providing an ongoing picture of local environmental conditions. This data is publicly available, supporting our commitment to transparency and allowing others to see the air-quality information we collect.
